Snakes and Apples

This new collection of Nineb Lamassu focuses on love and romance; and the intimacy enjoyed by two passionate lovers.

At times we meet poems exploring the most intimate aspects of a love relationship, through risqué and erotic language, and at times we come across poems describing the pain of separation and breakups.

No Assyrian poetry has dared to explore love in such a way as Nineb Lamassu has done in this new collection. Thus Snakes and Apples is a groundbreaking work of literature and will remain a reference point for the coming generations of Assyrian poets.

Our staff and editorial board are themselves published authors and understand your needs as an author. They work with you in every step of the way to ensure that your work is published and produced in the best possible form.

At Enh̬eduanna Publishing, we publish original works written in Syriac and/or Modern Assyrian [also known as western and eastern Suret/Sureṯ/Ṣurayt]. We also welcome translation from other languages into Syriac and/or Modern Assyrian. Through our 'Nurwa' series, we especially encourage submissions from unpublished youth and female writers. We aim to introduce a number of authors through the series.

II. The Evaluation Process

All submissions go through an evaluation process which ensures quality of content. Our internal editors evaluate the submission. The opinions of external evaluators are also sought when necessary. Once a decision is reached, the author is notified. The entire process may take from a few weeks to a few months depending on the nature of the submission and the response of external evaluators.

III. The Production Process

Once accepted, the work enters the pipeline for production. You, the author, are asked to provide the final submission according to the Enh̬eduanna Publishing Submission Guidelines (which is provided). After we receive the final submission, the book goes through copy editing. The copy editor will work closely with you and will provide feedback whenever necessary. The book is typeset and a proof is generated. One of our editors will be in touch to obtain your approval of the proof. An attractive cover is designed and the book is printed. The book will not go to press without your approval. The production process takes a few months and depends on the condition of the submission. The more you adhere to the guidelines, the faster the production becomes.

IV. The Marketing Process

We take the marketing of your book very seriously. Within a few weeks of publication you will start seeing your book listed on various websites in adition to ours such as Amazon.com, BarnesAndNobles, Chapters/Indigo, Borders.com and other well-known retailers and wholesalers of books.
